Copywriter Jobs

So you want a copywriting job? I can't say I blame you. Like you, I love to write, and there is something very appealing about writing copy that has the potential of influencing many people. More than any type of writing, copywriting tries to hit a person's emotions hard and fast, to compel them to immediate action. The role of a copywriter is very alluring. The average copywriter will make anywhere from $30,000-$80,000 a year; the best ones can make 6-figure salaries. Copywriter jobs are not that easy to come by, but like getting most jobs, it's just a matter of knowing who to talk to, where to look, and persevering.

Now, I'm assuming you know how to write great copy already, or you wouldn't be looking for a copywriting job. If you don't know copywriting, I recommend you take a course or two in copywriting. There are a few ways to procure copywriting jobs:

  • Seek employment at copywriting or advertising agencies. These firms do the majority of advertising and copywriting work on the market today.
  • Become a freelance copywriter. Not the easiest avenue, but very rewarding. The Internet has done amazing things in opening up opportunities for freelance copywriting experts.
  • Work for a regular company's marketing department. Many companies, especially the larger ones, have their own advertising and marketing departments with their own teams of copywriters.
